Help with voting

Some cantons make it easier for people to vote by providing mobile ballot boxes and the possibility of proxy voting.

Some cantons have set up a system of mobile ballot boxes. This facility is available to all citizens but is particularly useful if a person is disabled or permanently unable to go to the polling station for other reasons.
The communes of various cantons organise roaming ballot boxes according to a timetable. Ballot boxes may also be placed in hospitals and old people’s homes. In certain cantons, electoral staff collect the sealed envelopes with ballot papers for votes and elections at the homes of people who are elderly, have an illness or a disability.

    Some cantons authorise voting by proxy, i.e. entrusting another person to place your vote in the ballot box on your behalf.
