All road users must obey the traffic regulations (Road Traffic Act, Articles 26 to 57).
Cars, vans, lorries, buses and motorcycles must drive with their lights on during the day. Anyone driving without lights can expect a fine of CHF 40.
The lights requirement does not apply to mopeds, e-bikes and bicycles or to vehicles that were licensed before 1970.
The list of fines lists all traffic violations incurring a fine of maximum CHF 300. Click below to view the list.
If you do not pay fines that you have received abroad, you could face high additional charges, not to mention problems when entering that country again.
