    Standing as a candidate or voting in the election of a cantonal parliament

    To stand as a candidate or vote in the election of the parliament or the government of your canton, you must meet certain requirements and follow specific procedures.

    Generally, to vote or to stand for election, you must be a Swiss citizen, be 18 or older on election day,
    and you may not be under general guardianship due to mental illness or mental incapacity.

    The terms and conditions for standing as a candidate in cantonal elections are, however, defined by
    the cantonal constitutions and legislation for citizens living in Switzerland and those living abroad.
    The minimum voting age in the canton of Glarus is 16
