Cantonal taxes

Under the Swiss Federal Constitution, the cantons are free to decide on their own tax systems and tax rates. The cantons are entitled to levy any tax that does not lie in the exclusive domain of the federal government. As a result, tax regulations and burdens can vary widely from canton to canton.
